It Is All About the Bath
One of the perks to custom home building is being able to choose how many bathrooms you want. Many two-story homes today have two and a half baths, and one story homes have two full baths. Most of these new homes have one of these bathrooms in the master bedroom.
The half bathroom can sometimes be called a powder room. Most commonly found on the main floor of a two story house, this bathroom adds great convenience for guests and homeowners who do not wish to travel upstairs. These bathrooms usually just contain a commode and sink with mirror. The sink can be a vanity, which has a small cabinet underneath, or it can be a pedestal sink, which is the basin set on a stand.
For those who build a second bathroom, it is commonly used as a guest bathroom or a child’s bathroom. Some can be sandwiched between two bedrooms, with doors accessing it from both rooms. It can be attached to just one room, or it can stand alone. Oftentimes this bathroom will be a full bath, including a bath/shower combo, commode and full sink with mirror.
Master bathrooms are desirable because it offers a retreat from what might otherwise be a kid-cluttered bathroom. These bathrooms are frequently ornate and the amenities differ from those in the regular bathrooms. There are dual sinks, also known as his/hers sinks, which is two sinks set into one long vanity. The mirror can be one long piece of glass or two separate pieces hanging over the sinks. There are several types of baths to choose among, from garden tubs to Jacuzzis. The showers can be installed in the bath itself, or can stand alone. This is why so many homeowners choose to build a master bath; it’s is the master’s bathroom.
